Venarella Hinkle

Venarella’s journey with watercolor began under the mentorship of local artist Anita Gordon, where she spent two years dedicated to weekly classes—putting “miles on her paintbrush” and falling in love with the fluid dance of water and pigment. To refine her craft, Venarella continued her education under renowned artists Tom Lynch and Dylan Pierce, working diligently to develop a style that is uniquely her own. Her work and expertise have earned her several notable accolades:

• High Auction Honors: Captured on Canvas Plein Air Event at Anderson Gardens, Rockford, IL (2015)

Teaching & Principles

“I learned what it means to paint what you love.” Venarella is passionate about sharing the “amazing effects” of watercolor’s transparency with others. She taught for two years at Cherry Lane Farm and transitioned to Zoom during the pandemic with Gallery 223 to keep the creative community connected. Today, she hosts In-Person Workshops at the Creative Arts Studio in Woodstock, IL. While she is a versatile painter, Venarella specializes in Pet Portraiture, capturing the heart of animals through her vibrant, soulful style. “A pet is more than just a subject; they are a family member with a personality all their own.”
