My name is Doris Blaauw, and I began painting with watercolors in 2001. A few years earlier, my husband and I had moved to a five-acre property in rural Marengo. Surrounded by so much nature, I was inspired to take an art class at McHenry County College.
Watercolor was the medium being offered, and I quickly found it both exciting and endlessly challenging. After all these years, I’m still learning. My goal is to create paintings that make you smile.
