Composting Made Easy

May 30 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Free

Composting is one of the simplest ways to reduce waste, build healthier soil, and create a greener community — and now you can learn how to do it at home! 🌱♻️ Join us at the Co-op for a special composting workshop led by Woodstock resident and environmental science educator Jon Alspach. Jon will share practical tips for turning everyday food scraps, yard waste, and paper products into nutrient-rich compost that can transform your garden naturally.

A Loyola University Environmental Science graduate with a passion for conservation and restoration ecology, Jon and his wife Karen use compost to help cultivate a thriving native wildflower garden at their home. Jon also partners with the Food Shed Co-op by regularly collecting produce scraps from the store to compost locally.

Whether you are brand new to composting or looking to improve your current system, this class will cover everything from what materials to use, how to maintain moisture and temperature, and how healthy compost can dramatically improve your soil and plants.

You don’t need a big yard or fancy equipment to get started — just a willingness to turn waste into something valuable. 🌎💚
