Hello Co-Op Owners,
March is the first month of Spring! The first official day is March 20th, the vernal equinox, when the sun crosses the equator, bringing nearly equal day and night. As a summer baby, I am looking forward to brighter and warmer days.
Women’s History Month
In 1980, President Jimmy Carter issued the first presidential Proclamation declaring the week of March 8th as National Women’s History Week. In 1987, Congress passed Public Law 100-9, which designated March as “Women’s History Month.” This month, you can expect to see posts from us highlighting local woman-owned vendors.
New happenings: If you enjoy traditional Irish foods, the deli area will be serving a meal for two starting Saturday, March 14 and March 15, featuring corned beef brisket and colcannon.
We are working hard to bring your suggestions from the comment cards to our store. One of which is baked chicken daily! We found a producer that supplies chicken that aligns with our values at an affordable price, so we are back to 14.99 per chicken, served daily starting March 23rd. The spring-summer menu for our deli is in the works, and we have some fun new offerings like vegetable spring rolls with peanut sauce, oatmeal in the mornings, citrus salad, and breakfast wraps to name a few.
Center store is bringing changes to the assortment in our frozen section. Be on the lookout for locally owned Kelly’s Pot Pies! We also have a highly requested new flavor of Boulder chips: sharp white cheddar. La Fermiere yogurts have now expanded with more flavors now available.
Dates to Remember:
- March 21st Savor and Sip Saturday: Heady cup will be serving samples of coffee. Umland’s Cheese will be giving away sample-sized cheese with a soup from our deli.
- April 18th Trash to Treasure Kids Invent-a-Thon. We are collecting clean, kid-friendly, non-sharp recyclables for a creative project. Think paper towel rolls (not toilet paper), food boxes, small containers, cardboard, etc. These items will be used to make an invention, game, or whatever their mind decides.
- April 25th Seedling School Saturday: Elliott from Driftless is going to do a seed starting program about the basics of seed starting.
We can’t thank you enough for showing up and supporting the co-op. Thank you to the volunteers I’ve gotten to know over the past few weeks. You all have been so helpful and a delight to have at the store. I look forward to meeting more of you in the future.
